Chocolate covered strawberries sit in the silver platter you called up earlier that day. The curtains are drawn and the oranges and reds from the evening’s sun lighten the hotel room. The ice bucket holds a Dom Perignon and rose petals outline the table. With only three days left before our social media feeds become bombarded with couples trying to outdo one another with their Valentine’s Day plans, it’s time to lock down how you and your loved one plan to outshine. Commit to any of these activities below and you’re sure to impress.

Ice Skating in the Park
This is a classic. For all those pairs who can’t seem to get enough of the subzero weather, take a trip downtown and skate away. Don’t forget to stop for some hot chocolate as a “warm each other up” appetizer.

Romantic Hotel
You don’t need to travel out of the city to go on vacation. Take your special someone to one of these romantic hotels (Club Quarters, Omni Parker House Hotel, Seaport Hotel, or Copley Square) in the city and leave your priorities at home for the night.

Whisk off to Cape Cod
If staying in the city is too mundane, why not head to the Cape for the night? Shower your loved one with a stay at a cozy inn or visit a spa. A change of scenery is always sure to get the juices flowing.

Visit the MFA
For Valentine’s Day, the MFA offers a special program for the holiday featuring romantic paintings and sculptures. Love is art and art is love.

Whether you decide to do something extravagant or you end up staying home with a glass of wine, when it comes to it all that matters is being with the one you love. Forget the pressure, pick a flower (if you can find one hiding under the snow) and remind your significant other what they mean to you.
