As most of us know, Boston is the number one college town in the country. But what happens after graduation when students have to say goodbye to dorm life and enter the real world? While most students won’t be buying homes straight out of school, here is a list of some of the best areas for young home buyers. It’s never too early to start thinking ahead.

Charlestown
While this town is usually known for its large Irish population, the area is welcoming more and more people. In fact, a ton of young professionals are moving in and creating a community of their own. The best part? It’s close enough to the North End that you can satisfy those midnight cannoli cravings.

East Boston
As an Eastie resident, I can vouch that the area is up and coming. You might just find a great brownstone to fix up and make your own. The community is tight knit, filled with parks and pools. In fact, the Paris St. gym is undergoing a renovation now.

Dorchester
Areas of Dorchester are seeing mass renovations. Some of the better parts include Savin Hill, Ashmont, and Neponset. If you want more for less, this is definitely the place to look.

Medford
For those thinking way ahead to planning a family, this area is perfect for you. With over 24 parks and playgrounds, there’s a ton of space to have fun with your loved ones. Plus, with it’s own downtown area, you won’t have to drive into the city to feel a part of the action.
