Rent Increases & Decreases

For renters in Boston, the yearly decision to renew a lease or start to look somewhere else is one that can be very difficult. It’s tempting for most to choose to renew after having moved their furniture in, familiarized themselves with the area, and gotten into their routine. However, RentHop, a website that lists apartments for prospective renters, just released some data on rent for one bedroom apartments based on the T stops they are off of.

Overall, rent increased off of 101 T stops and decreased at only 23. The data below are some of the top hits.

Rent Increases
Blue Line- Maverick Square

  • The average rent is $2,105 increasing about 10.5% from last year.

Green/Orange Line- Haymarket

  • The average rent is $2,588 increasing about 10.1% from last year.

Orange Line- Back Bay

  • The average rent is $3,377.50 increasing about 9.1% from last year.

Green Line- Brookline Hills

  • The average rent is $2,125 increasing about 9% from last year.

Rent Decreases

Green Line- Blandford

  • The average rent is $2,525 decreasing about 8.5% from last year.

Orange Line- Assembly

  • The average rent is $2,210 decreasing about 8.3% from last year.

Green Line- St. Paul St.

  • The average rent is $1,850 decreasing about 7.5% from last year.

Red Line- Porter

  • The average rent is $2,000 decreasing about 7% from last year.
