Don’t let the bad times get you down, or do for 24 hours and then pick yourself up from the ashes like the beautiful Phoenix you are.
Here are 10 ways for your sweet relief
1. Cry it out
Pain and sadness can be difficult to suppress, instead embrace it and go ahead and ugly cry. Its a way to accept how you may truly feel about a situation and it can be freeing. It is not going to fix anything, of course, tears rarely do, but you are going to feel better.
2. Reach out to people
Reach out to an old friend or a family member. Force yourself to be around people and feign happiness. Fake it till you make it, soon enough you will start to actually feel happiness.
3. Be nice to people
Totally underrated. Everyone needs a little kindness, and good karma is always nice.
4. Treat yourself
Don’t buy those designer blinged out jeans you’ve been eyeing after you get fired from your job. But do buy yourself that cupcake from that cute place in downtown. You will feel much better after.
5.Make a playlist
Pick something that you can’t help cracking a smile at. If you need a recommendation I suggest starting with 4 Non Blondes – What’s Up
6. Go for a walk
Its almost too easy to get caught up in a cycle of depression. You want to stay in, you don’t want to get dressed, you don’t want to do anything. But life is still going to go on and if you go outside, take a long walk, and breathe, you’ll feel better and clearer.
7. Read
Reading allows you to step outside of your own head/life even for just a minute. Stories can give hope and direction and push away the worries and sadness enough for you to recuperate some motivation and self-awareness.
I’ll start you with a poem by Nikita Gill
8. Do something for someone else
Go out of your way to do good for others. You are not the only person who is struggling, there are tons of people in your town and city who are having a tough time. befriend the elderly on your street, help out at your parents home.
9. Accomplish Something
Even small accomplishments are worthy of note. Clean your apartment, go for a run, finish a book, volunteer. Do something and feel good about it.
10. Control
Let it go. None of us really have it anyway. We can plan for everything, save all of our money and still not be prepared for what life throws at us. Goals and plans can of course help, but when you sit back and realize the only things you can actually control are what you do, say, and think, you can seriously reduce crushing stress issues.
